What We Live
To be people marked by devotion; devotion to God, his family, and his mission
Devotion- “proskartereo”: To adhere to one; to be steadfastly attentive unto, to give unrelenting care to a thing; to persevere and not faint; to show oneself courageous for; to be in constant readiness for one; to wait on constantly.
Devoted to God:
- To live in awe of and submission to God’s holiness
- To actively seek and ask for the power of the Holy Spirit to be evident in every aspect of our lives
- To embrace various forms of worship to express our adoration and thankfulness to God
- To prioritize spiritual practices – including praying, fasting, studying and meditating on the Word- in order to know and experience God and grow in His likeness
- To use our resources - time, money, skills, talents, possessions- to build His kingdom rather than our own
Devoted to his family:
- To love and value each other regardless of social, cultural, political, racial, and economic backgrounds
- To regularly include each other in the rhythms of our lives
- To invite others in to the sensitive, vulnerable places of our hearts
- To handle the sensitive, vulnerable places of each other’s’ hearts with humility and grace
- To sacrifice our own autonomy, preferences, and comfort for the benefit of one another
- To generously share what we have with one another
Devoted to his mission:
- To proclaim the good news of Jesus in word and deed
- To disciple and be discipled
- To be faithful ambassadors for Christ in our various workplaces, neighborhoods, and households
- To intentionally love and serve those whose are often overlooked and disregarded in our society
- To link arms with others already serving Jesus in different ways in various communities
- To raise leaders who are equipped to begin other communities of faith
